Invitation to Women of Color: Get Involved!

Participants needed for online study of menopause symptoms among diverse women!

Eun-Ok Im, MPH, Ph.D, School of Nursing, University of Texas at Austin, and her colleagues are conducting an Internet study on menopausal symptoms experienced among diverse ethnic groups of middle-aged women.

The study will be conducted via a dedicated website that includes an Internet survey and online forums to obtain information on women's symptoms experienced during the menopausal transition. Data will be collected from four ethnically different groups (30 members per group at the beginning) between July 1, 2006, and June 30, 2008.

You are eligible to participate in this study if you are a White, Hispanic, African–American or Asian woman aged 40 to 60 years who can read and write English.

Participant involvement will include:

1. Approximately 30 minutes to complete the Internet survey questionnaire
2. Online forums conducted over 6 months, covering 7 discussion topics and any additional topics that the participants may add. (You may visit the online forum site and read and post messages at your convenience. Participation in the additional online forum discussions is optional.)

Participants will receive a $10 Target gift certificate per Internet survey and a $50 Target gift certificate per online forum participant. At least two posted messages per topic are required for reimbursement.
